What is Relationship Manager SME – MMBL?

The Relationship Manager SME is a critical role at Mobilink Microfinance Bank, responsible for managing and growing relationships with Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) clients. The position focuses on understanding client financial needs and delivering customized banking solutions to support business growth while ensuring portfolio quality, compliance, and profitability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, coordinate, and evaluate SME business including Housing Finance, School Finance, Commercial Vehicle Finance, and SME Lending.

  • Lead branch-level SME operations to achieve profitability targets while ensuring compliance with MMBL policies and SBP regulations.

  • Develop and implement sales plans based on market assessment and business potential.

  • Formulate and execute relationship strategies focusing on verification, loan disbursement, collection, and cross-selling.

  • Manage the SME portfolio and achieve assigned targets through effective sales, verification, and recovery.

  • Lead, coach, and motivate the SME sales team to maximize productivity, business volumes, and employee retention.

  • Conduct customer credit assessments using the Five Cs of Credit.

  • Act as Line Manager for Relationship Officers SME Sales, ensuring training, productivity, and accurate first-level credit review.

  • Ensure capacity planning to meet loan volume targets with zero default.

  • Coordinate with Operations for timely loan disbursement in line with approved SOPs.

  • Ensure 100% loan collection through proactive follow-ups, recovery notices, and issue resolution.

  • Maintain Portfolio at Risk (PAR) at zero, conduct delinquency analysis, and implement recovery strategies.

  • Monitor field activities, conduct surprise visits, and enforce controls to prevent unethical lending practices.

  • Maintain accurate MIS reports for verification, disbursement, and collections.

  • Promote deposit growth through cross-selling to existing customers.

  • Ensure service excellence in line with Fair Treatment of Customer (FTC) policy.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, audits, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify portfolio risks and report concerns to line management in a timely manner.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution (MBA preferred).

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the microfinance industry, preferably in SME or business banking roles.

  • Strong leadership, negotiation, persuasion, and relationship management skills.
