About the Role
Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) is seeking a highly motivated Literacy Instruction Associate to support the design, development, and implementation of high-quality Grade 1 literacy instructional materials in Urdu. This role requires close collaboration with government stakeholders, education experts, and field teams to strengthen literacy outcomes at scale.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Education, Literacy, Curriculum Development, or a related field
Experience
3–5 years of relevant experience in literacy or education programs
Prior experience at the primary education level is strongly preferred
Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and instructional design
Skills & Competencies
Ability to work effectively in multicultural and collaborative team environments
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and attention to detail
Comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders, including field staff, education experts, and policymakers
Excellent facilitation, training, and capacity-building skills
Strong understanding of national and provincial education systems
Proven experience applying child-centered pedagogy and assessment practices
Ability to lead teams and coordinate with government education departments
Fluency in English and Urdu (knowledge of regional languages is an added advantage)
Willingness to travel across Pakistan
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the development of a Grade 1 Urdu literacy instruction package, including student books and teacher guides
Facilitate the formation and management of a Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) comprising literacy and education experts
Support the CDC in adapting literacy materials and training modules aligned with the Pakistani curriculum and multilingual context
Ensure the timely development of student and teacher learning materials
Oversee the review and adaptation of training and coaching tools for large-scale implementation
Support the development of student progress tracking and assessment tools
Act as the primary liaison between Room to Read, government departments, and partner organizations
Monitor project progress against timelines and deliverables
Lead documentation, reporting, and donor updates
Assist with logistical arrangements for workshops, including venue selection and transportation
Contribute to sustainability planning and scaling strategies in collaboration with government partners
