Position Overview

The Department Manager – Fresh Dairy, Bakery & Café will be responsible for overseeing daily departmental operations, ensuring high standards of customer service, maintaining product quality, and driving sales growth. The role requires strong leadership, customer engagement, and competitor market analysis to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Relationship Management

• Address customer complaints and proactively propose effective solutions.

• Maintain and update customer files to ensure accurate and efficient communication.

• Contact at least 10 customers weekly to understand their needs and strengthen relationships.

• Expand customer portfolio by acquiring new clients and enhancing engagement with existing ones.

Market & Competitor Analysis

• Conduct regular competitor promotion checks across customer segments (HoReCa, Traders, Services, Companies & Offices).

• Visit competitor outlets to assess pricing, assortment, merchandising, services, and activities.

• Provide structured feedback to the Buying Department to support competitive positioning.

Team Leadership & Development

• Coach and train team members on new concepts, systems, and operational standards.

• Monitor team performance and ensure proper customer file maintenance and visit analysis.

• Foster a positive, performance-driven work culture.

Merchandising & Presentation

• Ensure proper product presentation, packaging, and department display standards.

• Manage signage (permanent and promotional) and promotional setups such as endcaps and mass merchandising.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure adherence to food safety standards (HACCP), health & safety, and fire safety regulations.

• Maintain product preservation standards and overall quality control.

• Conduct regular customer visits to maintain strong service levels.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or Intermediate qualification.

• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in retail, wholesale, or FMCG environment.

• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

• Customer-focused mindset with strong operational understanding.
