The General Banking Officer (GBO) plays a vital role in delivering exceptional branch banking services and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. This position is responsible for handling customer transactions, account management processes, operational support, and regulatory compliance while maintaining high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Branch Operations & Customer Service

Deliver efficient customer service in line with service quality standards.

Handle account opening, closures, dormancy marking/removal, stop payments, deceased cases, and level migrations (Core & JazzCash customers).

Process non-financial transactions accurately as per SOPs.
-
Manage customer queries and complaints within defined TAT.

Cross-sell bank products and guide walk-in customers appropriately.
Operational & Compliance Tasks

Prepare and maintain branch reports for CSM and Head Office.

Reconcile Sundry & Suspense accounts.
-
Scan/upload SS cards and manage clearing instruments.
-
Issue/destruct cheque books, TDRs, and Banker’s Cheques with proper balancing.

Participate in Gold Loan assessments and process deceased customer refunds.
Cash & Teller Operations (Backup Role)

Process cash deposits and withdrawals as per Ops Manual.

Ensure end-of-day cash balancing (Physical Cash vs. T24 System).

Maintain teller registers, vault position sheets, SBP sheets, and daily cash reports.

Identify and report counterfeit notes.

Ensure compliance with SBP Clean Notes Policy.

Manage vault/till cash transfers and key custody as per SOP.
Administrative & Inventory Management

Conduct annual physical verification of fixed assets and reconcile registers.

Act as custodian of security stationery, cheque books, ATM cards, and stamps.

Provide administrative support in coordination with Branch Manager/CSM.
Eligibility Criteria
-
Bachelor’s degree from a reputable institution (relevant field preferred).

Minimum 2 years of relevant banking experience.
-
Strong communication, customer handling, and operational skills.

Sound understanding of branch operations and regulatory compliance.
