Position Purpose

The Sr. Assistant Manager – Health & Safety is responsible for promoting a proactive safety culture across plant operations while ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational HSE standards. The role focuses on inspections, incident prevention, risk management, and continuous improvement of health and safety performance within packaging operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with applicable local safety laws, ISO 45001, and company HSE management systems.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and behavior-based safety observations across packaging and dispatch areas.

  • Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Coordinate with Plant GM and operational teams to enforce health and safety standards and procedures.

  • Organize and deliver toolbox talks, safety awareness campaigns, and emergency mock drills.

  • Monitor contractor safety compliance and conduct safety induction sessions.

  • Maintain safety KPIs, reports, permits, and documentation aligned with audit requirements.

  • Recommend and supervise improvements related to fire safety, machine guarding, and workplace ergonomics.

  • Support digital HSE initiatives including dashboards, mobile applications, and real-time monitoring tools.

  • Ensure availability, stock management, and proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the H&S Manager.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (relevant discipline preferred).

  • 4–6 years of relevant Health & Safety experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.


Preferred Certifications

  • NEBOSH IGC

  • IOSH Managing Safely

  • OSHA 30 (preferred)


Required Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Knowledge of HSE compliance standards and audit practices
