Job Overview
Syngenta is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to lead complex engineering capital projects at its Karachi site. The role focuses on driving innovation in formulation, fill and pack (FF&P) assets and infrastructure by managing projects from concept through execution and completion.
The selected candidate will contribute to modern facility development, equipment installation, and full lifecycle management of large-scale engineering projects supporting sustainable agriculture.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Management

Manage the CapEx process from planning to project capitalization.

Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with company governance frameworks.

Provide data-driven insights to support investment decisions and equipment upgrades.

Collaborate with site engineering leadership to define project scope and technical requirements.
-
Develop engineering packages outlining technical, operational, and process requirements.
-
Ensure engineering standards comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and operational needs.

Coordinate with regional engineers, SMEs, and technical teams to implement fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.

Track project performance using earned value management techniques and prepare progress reports.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)

Promote and maintain a zero-incident safety culture.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality requirements.

Encourage a safety-first mindset across engineering and project teams.
Core Accountabilities

Develop project scope, design strategies, and execution plans.

Lead project implementation and risk mitigation strategies.
-
Align stakeholders and manage expectations during the CapEx planning phase.

Monitor project costs, timelines, and progress to ensure successful delivery.

Plan and manage Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and related readiness activities.
-
Identify cost efficiencies and process improvements across project phases.
-
Coordinate with maintenance and utilities teams to ensure compliance with project specifications.
-
Manage contractors, KPIs, and project documentation while ensuring occupational health and safety compliance.

Support commissioning activities, troubleshooting, and optimization during project handover.
-
Oversee purchase requisitions, scheduling, and execution planning.
-
Maintain updated manuals, drawings, and technical documentation.
-
Provide technical support to the maintenance team when required.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering.

6+ years of experience managing engineering or capital projects in manufacturing environments such as:

Agrochemical
-
Pharmaceutical
-
Chemical
-
Process industries
-

Knowledge of Project Management Institute (PMI) methodologies.

PMP certification is preferred.

Strong proficiency in:

Understanding of engineering economics and financial analysis.

Hands-on experience with construction, MEP systems, machinery installation, and HSE practices in chemical or process plants.
