Job Overview
The Category Specialist will support the Category Manager in executing buying and merchandising strategies for Meat and Fresh Produce categories. This role focuses on driving sales performance, ensuring product availability, and strengthening supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in executing category buying and merchandising strategies
- Deliver on commercial KPIs including sales, margins, and supply chain performance
- Identify and develop reliable suppliers to ensure sourcing excellence
- Maintain 100% shelf availability through proactive supply chain management
- Conduct regular market and competitor analysis with quick response strategies
- Collaborate with the sales team for B2B customer growth
- Ensure effective in-store merchandising with store operations teams
- Manage end-to-end promotions, including planning, execution, and analysis
- Ensure compliance with tendering and negotiation SOPs
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits and supplier records
- Initiate innovative projects to drive category growth and profitability
Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:
- Business Administration
- Supply Chain Management
- Or a related field from a recognized university
Experience
- 2–4 years of relevant experience (preferably in retail, FMCG, or fresh food categories)
