METRO Pakistan launched its first cash & carry wholesale center in 2007 and quickly expanded to 5 centers within 18 months. In 2012, METRO merged its operations with Makro-Habib, creating a stronger, unified wholesale business. Today, METRO operates 10 wholesale centers across Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Islamabad, and Faisalabad.

As part of METRO GROUP, an international leader in self-service wholesale, METRO Pakistan is connected to a global network of over 750 stores across 25 countries, employing more than 107,000 people, with sales reaching approximately €37 billion in 2016/17.


Job Summary

The Senior Manager – Operations Excellence will lead the development and execution of METRO’s operational strategy to enhance MFC performance, productivity, efficiency, and SCO sales. The role focuses on operational excellence, lean management, cost optimization, and team leadership to ensure all stores meet performance and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Operations Excellence roadmap to achieve efficiency and performance goals.
  • Define and manage country-level KPIs, OPEX budgets, and operational expectations.
  • Conduct audits, process reviews, and identify operational inefficiencies.
  • Apply lean methodologies (Kaizen, value stream mapping) to optimize processes and improve profitability.
  • Lead integration of digital tools, dashboards, and automation for streamlined decision-making.
  • Collaborate with MFC teams to deploy performance plans, monitor outcomes, and enforce corrective actions.
  • Ensure SOPs, quality control, compliance, and operational best practices are followed.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives across operations, merchandising, supply chain, commercial, and customer service.
  • Lead cost optimization in personnel, maintenance, energy, and third-party labor.
  • Review customer feedback and Voice of Customer (VoC) to drive improvements.
  • Guarantee product availability and quality, especially for high-impact SKUs.
  • Partner with marketing and commercial teams on operational factors related to promotions.
  • Foster ownership, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement among teams.
  • Coach and mentor MFCs and operational leads in performance management and operational execution.
  • Manage change during reorganizations and ensure compliance with policies, laws, and safety standards.
  • Execute the active selling strategy across stores to support SCO sales targets.

Qualifications

  • University degree (Bachelors or Masters), preferably in Business Management, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, or related disciplines.
