Job Description

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is seeking dedicated Junior Sports Doctors (Men & Women Cricket) to join their medical team. These professionals will be responsible for the research, counseling, and complete rehabilitation of athletes through accurate diagnoses and effective treatment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency Care: Develop and implement procedures for managing emergency injury situations.

  • Injury Management: Conduct research into the prevention and treatment of injuries or medical conditions.

  • Athlete Rehabilitation: Develop and prescribe exercise programs to condition rehabilitated athletes and supervise the overall recovery process.

  • Clinical Support: Provide diagnoses and treatment for sports or activity-related injuries.

  • Education: Provide athletes with education and counseling related to their specific injuries.

  • Mental Strategies: Implement mental strategies to help athletes cope with and overcome setbacks or injuries.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed medical care information and medical records.

  • Pre-Tournament Evaluation: Evaluate athletes prior to participation in series or tournaments to determine injury predisposition.

  • Coordination: Collaborate with other medical experts, coaches, and trainers regarding the medical condition of athletes.

  • Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Work within a team including psychologists, nutritionists, GPs, coaches, and physiologists.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery) from a recognized medical university.

  • Registration: Full and current PMDC registration.

  • Preference: Fellowship in Internal Medicine or Critical Care is preferred.


Skills & Competencies

  • Clinical assessment and management of acute and chronic medical conditions in athletes.

  • Proficiency in on-field emergency care, first aid, and basic life support.

  • Musculoskeletal examination and sports injury evaluation.

  • Player health monitoring, medical documentation, and fitness reporting.

  • Effective teamwork using an athlete-centered approach with physiotherapists and coaches.
