A leading pharmaceutical manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager HSE to support the implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety & Environment systems. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, promoting workplace safety, and maintaining environmentally sustainable operations within the manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing and maintaining HSE management systems in line with ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 standards.
- Conduct risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and hazard identification studies.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, occupational health, and safety regulations applicable to pharmaceutical operations.
- Support pharmaceutical-specific HSE programs including:
- GMP-aligned safety practices
- Chemical and hazardous material safety
- Cleanroom safety protocols
- Hazardous and bio-waste management
- Process safety and containment controls
- Monitor safe handling, storage, and disposal of APIs, solvents, and chemicals.
- Perform routine HSE inspections, audits, and compliance assessments across plant and warehouse operations.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions while implementing CAPA measures.
- Conduct HSE trainings, induction sessions, emergency response drills, and safety awareness programs.
- Support emergency preparedness activities including fire safety, spill response, and evacuation planning.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, QA, and Warehouse teams to integrate HSE standards into daily operations.
- Maintain HSE documentation, KPI reporting, and regulatory records.
- Participate in internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of findings.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and awareness initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
Education
- BE in Chemical / Mechanical / Environmental Engineering
OR - BS in Environmental Sciences
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant HSE experience
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing experience will be preferred
Preferred Certifications
- NEBOSH IGC
- ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Lead Auditor Certification
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of HSE regulations and pharmaceutical industry standards
- Knowledge of process safety, chemical hazards, and industrial hygiene
- Familiarity with HAZOP, risk assessment techniques, and incident investigation methods
- Excellent communication and training delivery skills
- Ability to conduct audits and coordinate with regulatory authorities
- Proficiency in MS Office and HSE reporting systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
