🧾 Job Overview

Unilever is seeking an experienced and driven Assistant Packaging Development Manager – Home Care to join its Research & Development team in Karachi. The role focuses on leading packaging development projects, ensuring innovation, quality, sustainability, and timely execution across Home Care product categories.

You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment contributing to packaging innovation that reaches billions of consumers worldwide.

🚀 Key Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned packaging development projects on time and in full (OTIF) with a strong focus on First Time Right KPI
• Conduct packaging testing, validation, and performance trials (main plant & transit trials)
• Develop technical specifications and BOMs for packaging components using SAP PLM
• Collaborate with project teams on innovation, rejuvenation, and product development initiatives
• Work closely with marketing, supply chain, and procurement teams to ensure seamless execution
• Drive packaging innovation from concept through feasibility, development, and validation stages
• Build strong relationships with packaging suppliers to enable cost-effective and innovative solutions
• Lead sustainability-focused packaging initiatives aligned with business goals
• Utilize tools such as SAP PLM, BPM, Teamcenter/Active Workspace, CAD & CAPE systems

🎯 Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Engineering, Industrial & Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 3 years of experience in packaging development within FMCG (local or multinational)
• Strong understanding of flexible plastics, rigid plastics, carton board, and corrugated packaging
• Experience in packaging performance testing and factory trial management
• Knowledge of NPD (New Product Development) lifecycle from concept to launch
• Proficiency in SAP/PLM and standard Microsoft Office tools
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Leadership mindset with ownership and result orientation
