About the Role

Faisalabad Serena Hotel is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering Operations Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all hotel engineering systems, infrastructure, utilities, equipment, and facilities.

This leadership role requires strategic planning, technical expertise, team management, budget control, regulatory compliance, and a strong commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of all hotel machinery, equipment, and engineering systems.
  • Ensure smooth functioning of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, landscaping, and building maintenance activities.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Establish maintenance standards and ensure compliance across all hotel facilities.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules for guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.

Strategic Planning & Budget Management

  • Prepare and manage annual Engineering Department budgets, including Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) and Repair & Maintenance (R&M) budgets.
  • Identify opportunities for modernization, process improvement, and cost optimization.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, equipment, and materials to improve operational performance.
  • Develop long-term strategies for energy conservation and resource optimization.

Compliance, Safety & Sustainability

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Liaise with government authorities and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Promote and implement environmentally sustainable engineering solutions.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Ensure the safety and security of employees, guests, facilities, and assets.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Engineering team to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Manage workforce planning, scheduling, assignments, and leave management.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and identify employee development opportunities.
  • Recommend hiring, promotions, salary reviews, and disciplinary actions where necessary.
  • Foster teamwork, innovation, accountability, and a high-performance culture.

Project & Asset Management

  • Supervise renovation and refurbishment projects to ensure compliance with required standards and specifications.
  • Monitor departmental KPIs and implement corrective actions when required.
  • Ensure adequate inventory and availability of spare parts and maintenance materials.
  • Handle engineering-related legal and technical matters as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in hotel engineering and facility management.
  • Implement work simplification and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by management from time to time.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

  • BE Electrical Engineering
  • BE Mechanical Engineering
  • MSc (Relevant Discipline)
