The Transmission Field Engineer will support the operation, maintenance, and availability of core transmission networks, including OTN, SDH, and PTN systems. The role involves preventive maintenance, fault resolution, network audits, onsite support, and coordination with field operations teams to ensure reliable network performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the availability and reliability of core Transmission (OTN & SDH/PTN) networks and take proactive measures to prevent service disruptions.
• Execute preventive maintenance (PM) activities according to approved plans, including site visits and identification and escalation of environmental and power-related issues.
• Perform operation and maintenance activities for long-haul optical transmission networks, including OTN and SDH/PTN systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance of OTN, SDH, and PTN equipment, including equipment cleaning, patch-cord quality checks, physical connectivity verification, power checks, and redundancy checks.
• Compile monthly reports covering assigned sites, identified issues, and their resolution in coordination with Field Operations teams.
• Analyze, diagnose, and resolve network hardware and software issues related to transport networks to minimize network downtime.
• Provide 24/7 availability for network faults, including hardware arrangement in coordination with the Warehouse, site visits, and onsite technical support.
• Conduct networking audits of preventive maintenance activities performed by technicians and field teams to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Audit newly installed equipment and ensure identified quality issues are resolved before service cutover.
• Execute patch-cord, Ethernet-cable, and power-cable connectivity according to prescribed standards during network expansion and fault-resolution activities.
• Maintain records of hardware and spare parts within the assigned region and submit faulty hardware to the Warehouse along with relevant fault reports.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

• Preferably B.E. in Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunication Engineering.

Experience:

• Preferably a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.

Generic Skills:

• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a field-based and technical environment.

Job-Specific Skills:

• Good knowledge of transport networks and onsite quality standards.
• Strong knowledge of core transmission networks.
